Okay, so I was watching the BET Awards a few days ago, and was just waiting for what they would do for Michael Jackson. But low and behold, Young Money comes out and becomes the disappointment of the night.

Drake opens the performance with his “Best I Ever Had” song from his So Far Gone mixtape, then the rest of the Young Money crew comes out, headed by Lil’ Wayne, to perform “Every Girl”. Besides the technical issues that BET seemed to be experiencing, censoring random parts of the song, Wayne‘s 12 [or 13] year old daughter, Reginae Carter, and about 5 of her friends comes out on stage, and starts dancing and singing along to “Every Girl”!

    STOP THE PRESS!

Now, for all of you Rap illiterate folks out there, the song goes a little something like this”We like her, and we like her too, we like her, and she likes us too, and I just wanna fuck every girl in the world, I just wanna fuck every girl in the world”, you get the picture. Although when they performed the song they said ”I just wanna love every girl in the world”. Now, while I am a fan of the song and know it back to front, I’m damn near grown! Why does Lil’ Wayne have these little ass girls on stage singing along to such an explicit song? And where, oh where, are their mamas? This is the epitome of bad parenting people! Wayne is a grown man, his job is to entertain, and he has built a fan base off of his sexually explicit lyrics, we can’t change that, but certain things you must keep from your children- especially daughters!

What message is that sending to them? That it’s okay for men to objectify them, and use them as sex symbols in videos and performances? I commend Wayne for being active in his child’s life, because not a lot of men do as much as he does, but COME ON! EvenUncle Luke wouldn’t do this! As soon as I saw it, I was like “Oh, hell no”, then I’m hearing people are calling up BET and complaining, and rightfully so. Now if you see the re-runs of the ceremony, the children are edited out. But the blame shouldn’t be on BET, it should be on Lil’ Wayne. The worst part of it all is, this isn’t the first time he’s done this! Let’s hope he doesn’t make this mistake again, on or off television for the world to see. For all who haven’t heard the song before, here it is:
