This upscale, outdoor resort is located on 50 beautiful acres just under an hour and a half from Yellowstone’s North Entrance and 20 minutes from the charming Western town of Livingston, Montana. When you spend the night, you’ll stay in a beautiful safari-inspired canvas tent near the banks of the Yellowstone River, outfitted with king size beds, luxury linens and ensuite bathrooms with hot, running water and flush toilets. A variety of tent styles are offered making it easy to customize your experience. Couples will love the cozy Stargazer Tent with a window right above the bed to see the night sky. Families can opt for the Suite with Kids Tent option, which has a king bed in its own wing, a queen size sofa bed in the common area and an adjacent tent with two twin beds so the kids can have their own space, but still be close by. For larger groups, the Yellowstone River Tent offers adjoined Suite and Deluxe tents with a large private deck and fire pit, in addition to two bathrooms. Tents are dog friendly, so your canine companion can come along too.

All tents come equipped with a private deck, perfect for relaxing at the end of a day spent adventuring, as well as a wood burning stove to keep you warm on chilly Montana nights. A communal fire pit and complimentary s’mores await when the sun goes down and you can even borrow the camp’s Gibson guitar for some fireside sing-alongs.

When it’s time to eat, you won’t have to leave the resort. The on-site Embers Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as grab n’ go options to get you on the trail faster. You can enjoy local trout and Montana smoked barbeque, vegan offerings and Montana-inspired cocktails with views of the river.

Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley makes a great basecamp for exploring the northern reaches of the national park. The other-wordly-looking travertine terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs and the abundant wildlife of the Lamar Valley are an easy drive from the resort. There’s more to explore outside the park, though. This beautiful area of Montana is home to horseback riding, whitewater rafting and hiking galore. Under Canvas’ Adventure Concierge can help you book activities, or you can find recreation right on the grounds of the resort. Private river access means you can fly fish or float just steps from camp. You can also take advantage of complimentary daily yoga classes on lululemon mats and acoustic live music. If you’re looking for even more entertainment, the nearby Pine Creek Lodge is a local hotspot for bluegrass, rock and country music.

Under Canvas is committed to sustainability at all their locations, including this one. Pull-chain showers and low flow toilets help to conserve water and energy, and each property is designed to flow with the landscape, limiting earthwork. Under Canvas also partners with the Nature Conservancy to fund conservation in places like Montana.

Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley opens for its inaugural season on June 15, 2023 and will be open through Sept. 25. To make it a road trip, check out other area camps including West Yellowstone, Glacier and Mount Rushmore.
